Some Random Thoughts...About Movies, Movements, and Mishaps

I recently broke my wrist. Don't worry, nothing major, not a ton of pain, but the little hairline fracture on the growth plate in my left wrist is a major mishap. And inconvenience.
You see, I have to wear a splint. It's so dumb--I didn't even get something somebody can sign for all my trouble and pain. I walked around with nothing and a broken wrist for a week before my mother got me to the doctor (not even for the sole reason that she suspected my wrist was broken). It's so unfair. Now, I can't type, pour juice into a glass, wash my hands, or pick up my dog because my entire left forearm and hand are immobilized. If I want to do anything I have to have help or completely overuse my right hand. Thank goodness I'm right-handed anyway. It's been an unlucky week for me. First I break my wrist on the first day of school, a week later use the broken wrist to do push-ups and gun disarmament in martial arts class, audition for a play, do a great job, and then find out I can't make the practices so can't be in it, get a splint that NOBODY CAN SIGN!!! meet a really awesome new friend but can't see him more than once a week, find out at the church picnic that some uber-delicious supposedly "okay for me" cereal treat has dairy in it, after I've already eaten more than half of it, annoy my brother and his girlfriend out of their minds when I'm bored and lonely and am having a spaz attack with epic foot-in-mouth proportions, and finally get my period the next morning, the last day of freedom before my school starts.
Ugh.
Now that I've finished venting, however, I have a few happy things to say before I go.
One: One of my all-time favorite movies is Legally Blonde. Have you seen that movie? It's such a great movie, and I don't even mind that the lead character is a ditzy blonde. She is just the nicest girl you will ever meet, and a very unique character. I really really REALLY like this movie.
Two: Last night I discovered yet another awesome and amazing website that I will be going to over and over and another video I will replay again and again.

http://www.freehugsmovement.org/
Go to this website and see what people across the world are doing to make a difference in people's lives. Watch the video--it's beautiful. http://freehugscampaign.org/This one has a little more information and background on the video and the man that started it all. If you sign up, you can get information on free hugs campaigns in your own area, and hopefully you will participate in this amazing event. I am so excited to do this myself, and hope that you will be too!

What I love about FREE HUGS is that you give people a simple hug and may impact a person's life in a big way. Even if you never know it, your showing that you care by giving them that hug can really affect their day, even their life. It's such an amazing gesture. Christians out there should be especially excited about this movement: God can use our love for people, shown with a simple hug, to change a person's life and maybe bring them to a personal relationship with Christ. You just never know the full impact of what you've done.

God bless you all today and everyday. I pray that you will remember His love for you and everyone else on this planet. Also that with that knowledge of His love, you will be compelled to show that love to others today.
Love in Christ,
Ellen

My Buddies Rock

This is Amanda, Annah's older sister. We got her dressed up to take pictures for her boyfriend. It's so sweet, the two of them!!!

This is my best friend. Annah. Beautiful, right??? :) She should be a model.

Four Things I Love About The Internet

One. You NEVER have to go to sleep with the internet. It's like...an international web that's ALWAYS on. Except when you have blocks on your computer....:( Like, I am now updating my new Facebook account status, talking to my best friend's cousin, and putting in a new post on my blog, all at 11:19 PM.
Two. Instantly, with the click of a button, all your photos are on display for the world to see. While many may think this a disadvantage to the internet, you know, yer mum can see what YOU DID LAST SPRING BREAK....I like it. I mean, my best friend takes great photos of me, so I like to let people see her amazing eye makeup work.
Three. There's FACEBOOK. Facebook is like...manna from heaven. I love Facebook. And I've only had my account for under 24 hours. Like, maybe 5. Or 4. Or something. I am a total addict already. I love sites where it's all about YOU!!!! *basks in special glory*
Four. YouTube. YouTube is my friend. We're like brothers...only closer. *Completely quotes SpongeBob cartoon. Shamelessly* On YouTube I can be a complete dork with my videos, upload them (like i said...INSTANTLY), feed my music addiction, and check out free videos...FOR FREE!!!!!!!!
Did I say I like the Internet? Did I? DID I?????
I like it....

A

LOT.

NOOOOO!!!!

Gah!
*dies*
I just found out on an interview page with Jenny B. Jones, one of my favorite writers, that she wants to make a movie out of her books--and get a JONAS BROTHER to play the part of one of my favorite characters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*seethes*
What is up with people and wanting these idiot Disney channel tweenie boppers to play major roles in movies of great stories??? They are NOT cut out for it! They are just NOT! They are over-used, over-inflated, and completely WRONG for these parts! They will simper and smile and hype their way through the movie and leave a horrible, permanent stain on the perfect image you had in your head of this wonderful story. I won't allow it. And even if they do somehow manage to do it, I will NOT go see the movie and support this blasphemy.
Sheesh. When will they learn??? I cannot stand this! It just makes me want to scream!
*Screams*
ARGH!!!

My First Blog!

Yay!
*squeaks in excitement*
Okay. First I'll start off with saying--yay! My best friend is coming back from New Mexico tomorrow. I'll be seeing her on the Fourth of July, and the fun shall begin! But be warned, Colorado people. When Annah and Ellen are together...*lowers voice sinisterly*...things happen.
Good things, of course. We get a lot of stuff done, and have a lot of fun. Annah is an amazing art-eest, despite being 15, and I'm definitely going to have supreme bragging rights when she gets all famous. "You bought an AMB? Oh yeah, well I was GIVEN an AMB for my 15 birthday! Along with a fish! Ha! Beat that!" :)
Meanwhile, the basement "teen hangout", as my mother likes to call it, is finished. I just call it the basement, 'cuz "teen" and "hangout" just sounds kind of dorky to say in everyday conversation. :) The walls are pumpkin butter orange, a very nice change from the disgustingly boring white the entire house is painted, and my dad and bro just finished setting up the pool table today. I'll play pool. Totally.
As in, I'll sit on the sidelines and make sarcastic comments whenever someone messes up. With my Pepsi 0 in hand.
Today was very interesting, because I went to church and had to sing with the rest of my fellow teenage church-going friends. I told my Bible study teacher, Patty, I was very disappointed in her. I thought she was my friend, but she made me sing in public, and that wrong cannot be unwronged.
(Our extreme reluctance to sing, horror of singing, and dread of dying of heart attacks on stage seemed to be unjustified when the performance went off beautifully, without a hitch. I'm beginning to think the three of us girls were just having fun whining and crying about it, which is why we whined and cried for the entire 2 weeks leading up to the event. All of the other kids seem to enjoy singing. We let them have it, and hid behind our sheet music, which is why no one in the audience went deaf.)
Also, today was interesting because everybody got free Skittles and animal crackers. That generous donation marked the end of Bible studies for July and August, starting up again in Semptember. I'm gonna miss that.
Other notable news: Hamburgers for dinner. My family doesn't do the "new dinner" thing. We just rotate. Meatloaf, chicken and peppers, hamburgers, hot dogs, spaghetti, and meat and potatoes is our usual round of fare. Not always in that order. I love to cook, and so I for weeks I have been begging my mother to let me make something new. She keeps saying, "Yeah, yeah, after I do this or that..." and I go, "Um, hello. I'M going to be making it, not you!"
On Wednesday, I went on my first "date". Notice the quotations. It's only a date because my friend Kiana seems determined to make it into one, but I only went alone with the guy because SHE couldn't go. So it's her fault. And she's the only one who wants it to be a date. I mean, I like the guy, but the date put things in perspective. I don't want to date him.
We saw Transformers, which was good. Very long, but good. Not the best movie I've ever seen, but good. My tongue was bleeding for the last half of it, but it was good. There were some really weird talking robots in it, but it was good. That's all I've got to say about it. It struck me as pretty Disney.
Well, this is my first blog! Don't know how many will read it, because I actually am pretty boring on computer screen, but thank you if you've managed to finish this entry!
